UPDATE 1/4/13

I have revised the recipe:
1/2 bar soap
1/2 C Borax
1/2 C Washing soda

Grate the soap and melt in a pot of boiling water. It doesn't matter how much b/c as you use the soap you dilute it. Once the soap is melted add the borax and washing soda SLOWLY. Use a stove fan. You don't want to inhale the Borax. Yes it's safe diluted but not when it's inhaled.
I fill one bucket with the solution and fill 85% full with additional water.
It will form a paste over night. I fill a quart container 1/4 with the solution and add hot water to fill. I use 1/2 cup per large load.

This is my 3rd revision and favorite. The previous recipe was one bar, and one cup of each powder. I don't recall the water amount. I made it in April and it lasted till January 2013.

Love this stuff. You do have to scrub dry to avoid streaks but it does work.

------------------

Oven Cleaner $3.975 savings compared to Oven off (barely .50 to make)

Ingredients:
1 cup or more baking soda
water
A squirt or two of liquid detergent

Directions:
Sprinkle water generously over the bottom of the oven, then cover the grime with enough baking soda that the surface it totally white. Sprinkle some more water over the top, then let the mixture set overnight. You can easily wipe up the grease the next morning because the grime will have loosened. When you have cleaned up the worst of the mess,
dab a bit of liquid detergent or soap on a sponge, and wash the remaining residue from the
oven. If this recipe doesn't work for you it is probably because you didn't use enough baking soda and/or water.

-----

Fabric Softener

Mix 1 cup baking soda with 2 cups hot water. Stir until the powder is well mixed (it will not fully dissolve).
Add 1 cup white vinegar. The soda and the vinegar are going to react and bubble all around.
Stir until well combined.

Add ¼ cup to your rinse cycle.

Wool Dryer Balls is the best! Cut your drying time by at least 10mins and soften your clothes without any chemicals.
